The rules
Campus Ride is a free project run by a student. These are the rules for using it, in plain language.
What this is
A way for students of AIUB, NSU and IUB who ride a motorbike to the same campus to find classmates going the same way at the same time. That is the whole of it.
What this is not
- Not a taxi service. People offering seats are students making a trip they were making anyway. They are not drivers for hire and they are not employed by anyone.
- Not a payment service. The app has no way to take money. If two people agree to split fuel, that is between them, in cash, and nothing to do with this site.
- Not an insurer. The app carries no insurance for any ride arranged through it.
- Not a supervisor. Nobody is watching a ride while it happens.
Using it
- You must be a current student at one of the three universities, signing in with your own university email address.
- One account per person. Do not sign in as somebody else.
- What you put in your profile must be true — your name, your bike, your number plate.
- If you offer seats, you are saying you hold a valid licence and that the bike is legal to ride.
What gets an account removed
- Harassing, threatening or frightening another student.
- Giving false details, or using somebody else's account.
- Charging a fare, or treating the app as a way to earn.
- Taking someone somewhere other than where they agreed to go.
- Riding dangerously, or after drinking.
Two reports from two different students suspend an account automatically while a person looks at it. An account can also be removed outright, and nobody has a right to be on here.
Where responsibility sits
The decision to get on a bike, or to carry somebody, is yours. The app checks a university email for everyone and a photo ID for every rider offering a seat, and it gives you a code, a plate and a share link so you can check who you are dealing with. It cannot do the checking for you at the kerb, and it is not responsible for what happens on a ride.
Read staying safe before your first ride. It is short.
Changes and contact
These rules can change; the version on this page is the one that applies. For anything at all — a report, a question, or to have your account and photos deleted — email gearversebd@gmail.com from your university address.
